Summary: Collection consists primarily of the official papers of Bruce King (1979-1982). Executive papers contain adresses, proclamations, and appointments. Legislative papers consist of documents from the 34th and 35th state legislative sessions and three special sessions. Penal papers contain pardons, paroles, extraditions, and prisoner correspondence. Press papers consist of the correspondence and records of the press secretary. The Governor's office and personal files contain office correspondence, executive assistant files, invitations, and other materials. Three subjects that receive broad coverage in the legislative papers are the Santa Fe prison riot at the State Penitentiary in 1980, the right to work issue, and the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).
